I have a lot of things to get done this week. A list of them would help

1. Prepare a best man’s speech

2. Prepare and pray for a summer of giving my life away

3. Clean my car, get my car fixed and ready for traveling

4. Open a new bank account

5. Raise support…more of it

6. Wakeboard…ok not really but I gotta go at least once

Someone please hold me to these things

Friday Night Lights

Just the other night I watched the movie Friday Night Lights with my roommates. I know this is an older movie (2004), but I have never seen it and have always wanted to.

In short, the move is about football in Texas. More importantly the movie gives a great portrayal of a small town obsessed with an over pressured football team of high school kids.

I am sick of so many other movies about football teams in which it glorifies their experience, and of course shows them winning in the end. Friday Night Lights was not that way.

I love the movie because it shows a bunch of people (players, parents, fans) making this sport of football and the performance the most ultimate things in life. Throughout the movie, this idol is broken down as the players get injured, don’t win it all, and they all begin to see that this will never satisfy them.

This spoke to me because I am guilty of making my sport ultimate in High School. Make Jesus Christ ultimate, the only thing that will not fail you.

Lately I have seen the process of sanctification and how it is played on it Christian lives.

Far too often, I think I will just somehow fall into Godliness by accident and finally get it.

No, its not that way. We are trained in Godliness through discipleship, community, and scripture.

Press on in your Faith. Think of Jesus and be more like him. Fight to love Jesus and make him ultimate above everything else.

Career

This post is semi inspired by Maddy’s post in which she was talking about what she wanted to be when she grew up.

Well, I was watching history channel today and I think I have an idea of what I want to do with my history major. On the history channel durring documentaries it will cut to remade “actual footage” of whatever they are explaining. I wanna be one of the guys who does that. I would love to act in a remake of some battle! What a job!

Or…I wouldn’t mind being one of the guys who is talking about the history while stroking his beard. That whole beard part might come difficult though. Dirty stache work? Doubt it.

Also…I wish Champions League soccer was everyday

Wisdom teeth 09!…err Spring break 09

Yep, finally got those teeth yanked the other day. The oral surgeons office was so wierd. First, all the moniters keep freaking out on me because my pulse was so low, it was 48. I guess they wanted me to be freaking out or something.

Then, the nurse finally came in after 45 minutes of listening to the monitor telling me I was dying. Creepily enough, she could guess i was an athlete by my veins? Athlete or coke addict either one. She told me to send all my friends…so, go friends. Then the laughing gas…ahh that was pretty fun. Tingly feelings, felt like I was floating. Then the general kicked in and I remember nothing.

I feel bad for the nurses waking me up. I have been knocked out by general twice and both times when I wake up, I am just PISSED OFF at everyone, and I can’t really help it. I guess some people cry when they wake up, I just get angry. Sorry nurses.

Getting your wisdom teeth out is not that bad. I must say that shoulder surgery and kidney stones was much worse. Besides, Vikodin. It’s not as good as Percocet, but for some reason or another I play XBOX Live a lot better when I am on vikodin! I was pwning noobs last night.

I just hope for no dry sockets, have heard too many horror stories from that

The Dentist

So I am getting my wisdom teeth out over Spring Break. Kind of a bummer, but it has to happen sometime. I may be as out of it as this kid from the drugs…who knows.

DISCLAIMER: I love kids…they are great. Every parent laughs at their kids sometimes…kids are funny

Since when did St. Paul become Seattle? It has been rainy, foggy, and damp for the past three days and I love it. It makes me wonder if I could deal with that almost everyday if I would have chosen to go to school in Seattle. I like it here better…

USA vs. Mexico today. It is a qualifiying match. It is a pretty big considering the consequences, and because the US and Mexico have been rivals in World Cup’s past. Some of of us are going to the Lodge to watch it. Go USA!

It appears that I left just at the right time. Just as the temperatures started to plumet in Minnesota, I got the chance to go to Colorado for the weekend with the good ol’ fam.

It is kind of funny that I was only at school for 4 days, then gone again, but hey that’s how it works sometimes right? The snowboarding has been great. I have been at Copper Mountain. They got three feet last week so they have a pretty good base. There hasn’t been any fresh powder, but I have been fortunate to find some pow pow between the trees.

Man U has claimed the top spot in the EPL, and I am very very happy for that. Glory glory Man United
